Jubeat test location in UK

Posted in News, Other Music Games by S'Tsung on October 13th, 2008

Three days have passed since the test location of Jubeat started in Tenpin Bowl located in Acton, UK.
One credit costs 2 pounds and that gives you two songs to play.
The machine has 20 songs on it.
e-Amuse is off.

I think that (e-amuse off) might be one of big disadvantages of the game. Because jubeat seemed to be quite targeted at online play and internet ranking. If we get this game in Europe without e-Amuse it won’t be as motivating as it could have been with e-Amuse.

The American game similar to Pop’n Music is now available for download for those who own Xbox360. You can buy the game for 800 points (worth about 10USD) or you can just download the demo which contains three playable songs and see how the game look likes.

7 Studios developing “new” DJ game?

Posted in Blasphemy, News by S'Tsung on October 8th, 2008

7 Studios is developing a new DJ simulation game similar to original Beatmania and they want to be the first to achieve this. (as you know Activision plans to release DJ Hero next year).

The game should be named Scratch: The Ultimate DJ and is planned for release in spring for PS3 and Xbox360 consoles.

The controller for the game consists of a turntable designed by Numark and five keys.

Activision takes another step

Posted in Blasphemy, News by S'Tsung on September 29th, 2008

DJ Hero game was in development for the last two years. DJ Hero was registered early this year and it seems that we will finally find out what the game is about. The game is planned for summer 2009.

DJ Hero is a dj simulation game. Thus it is played with a new controller. The controller consists of turntable and 3 buttons. On the board you can also find cross fader and sound effects dial for changing the sounds. On the screen we will be able to see the flowing notes. The combination of confirming notes are holding a button and scratching at the same time, holding just the button or just scratching.

BTW Guitar Hero controllers will be compatible with this game. Fret buttons = sampling buttons, pick = turntable, whammy bar = the sound effect changing thingies.

Activision also registered Dance Hero. I though that this is a joke at first but it unfortunately is not.

PIU ProX multiplayer at LIW

Posted in Pump it Up by S'Tsung on September 25th, 2008

I had the chance to personally try out PIU ProX multiplayer system at LIW 08.
The pads are about 10kg each, made of metal and the “sensors” (more likely the the two metal plates) are sealed off which could make this platforms work for a long time. The panels are from different kind of metal than the cover (which is slippery, the panels are not hopefully). The center panel is too big, otherwise the pad would have the real measurements (or could be considered a PIU pad).

The software is mostly PIU Pro with new features. You can select 3 difficulties at once or 1 difficulty. If you select 3 different difficulties and you select easy difficulty it will show easy + the other two that follow (thus normal and hard). Selecting any other higher difficulty will show normal, hard and crazy at once.

The player can choose on what difficulty to play. The computer will recognize what difficulty the player is playing on and will keep counting score for that song. A player can choose in mid-play to switch difficulties. It takes some time for the computer to register the change but it does it. (what the score does is another matter though).

Modifier menu is available.
